Norris Bank primary School
On Friday 22nd February 2013, Norris Bank Primary School was awarded Level 5 of the Royal Horticultural Society Campaign for Schools Gardens. This is the highest level of award, and indicates a real commitment to getting children and the local community gardening. The initial idea to turn a boring patch of grass into a showcase garden was the brainchild of a parent – Jane Sebire. Norris Bank has worked hard for the past three years fundraising, designing, creating and nurturing a very special school garden. The garden has become a source of pleasure for the whole community, as well as a place of learning. The children work in the garden twice a week with the school gardener, Kathy Byrne. The school has established strong links with Solutions SK who provide our school meals; at the height of the season produce is harvested daily and then used in the dinners. Because of the garden, the school has made links with the allotment society, as well as local restaurant Damson. This is a fantastic garden enjoyed by all.
